The Center for Food Safety (CFS) of Hong Kong announced Monday that the processing of applications for importing poultry and poultry products from Thailand would be suspended.
"The decision was taken following confirmation of a case involving the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 on a poultry farm in the country," a CFS spokesman said. "We are seeking further information about the case from the relevant authorities," he said.
No poultry meat or poultry product from Thailand has been imported into Hong Kong since the CFS resumed processing of applications for importing poultry meat and poultry products from the country in September this year.
