Some 59.94 percent of the respondents of a recent survey
expressed support to Macao's elevated light metro plan, the
Infrastructure Development Office (IDO) announced Thursday.
The survey, which was conducted by the Macao Studies Center of
the University of Macao under the commission of the IDO,
interviewed 1,508 residents by telephone.
Some 40.11 percent of the respondents possess at least one car
or motorcycle, the survey said.
The overhead light metro is planned to carry 500,000 passengers
per day by 2011, the government announced in July.
Macao's resident population stood at 526,000 at the end of June,
when the number of licensed vehicles reached a record 169,410.
