Three men aged between 19 and 37 were arrested for trafficking
drugs, Hong Kong police said Sunday.
The arrest was made following the seizure of 2 kg of suspected
methamphetamine ("Ice") worth over 870,000 HK dollars (about
US$110,000) at the Hong Kong International Airport Saturday,
according to the police.
Police said that following extensive investigations, officers of
the Narcotics Bureau mounted an anti-dangerous drugs operation and
intercepted three men who were about to enter the Departure Hall of
the Hong Kong International Airport at about 7 p.m. local time on
Saturday.
Search on two men aged 19 and 25 discovered that each was
affixed with four bags of "Ice" around their thighs and legs with
each bag containing 0.25 kg in weight. Both admitted that they
intended to smuggle the drugs to Australia.
Meanwhile, another 37-year-old man responsible for affixing the
drugs and arranging the flight and accommodation in Australia for
the other two men was also arrested.
They are detained for inquiries, police said.
