On the afternoon of October 28, 2009, Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese President, met at the Great Hall of the People with a delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), headed by Choe Thae Bok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Hu welcomed the delegation's visit to China on behalf of the CPC Central Committee. He said, the celebrations and exchange activities marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the China-DPRK friendship year have helped deepen traditional friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation, and the friendly cooperative relations have been pushed to a new level.
