BMW China will recall 1,694 of its 7-series sedans in China to fix faulty gas pipes, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said Friday.
The cars, produced between July 1, 2008 and May 6, 2009, will be recalled as of June 25, said the country's quality supervisor.
The administration said in a statement that gas pipes in these cars could be disconnected due to substandard production materials, which could lead to engine failure.
The company said it would remodel the gas pipes and replace the gas tanks free of charge.
