China's share prices opened 2.28 percent lower on Thursday, in response to a more than five-percent overnight plummet on the Wall Street.
The Shanghai Composite Index opened at 1,720.42 points, down 40.19 points, or 2.28 percent, from the previous close.
The smaller Shenzhen Component Index opened at 5,734.93 points, down 130.85 points, or 2.23 percent.
