Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard will hold a one-on-one meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama on Saturday, at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Japan.
"We will be talking about the future strategy in Afghanistan, particularly given that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO) Summit is in Lisbon (Portugal) next weekend," Gillard told ABC News on Saturday, adding that she will also talk to Obama about U.S. re-engagement in the Asia-Pacific region.
The pair will hold meeting at Yokohama, Japan.
Before leaving the G20 Summit in Seoul of South Korea, Gillard on Saturday praised her fellow world leaders for agreeing to reform the global financial system.
The G20 leaders also agreed to revive stalled world trade talks, and consented to the International Monetary Fund's financial reforms, which include new rules on the minimum levels of capital and liquid assets banks must hold to meet any run on funds.
