TV documentary maker Discovery Channel, which has a worldwide audience of 140 million, announced yesterday it is to launch a Chinese-language website in a joint venture with leading Chinese search engine Baidu.
This is the first time Baidu has helped build a website for another brand.
Baidu will be responsible for managing the website, which will be called Discovery.baidu.com. The content, mainly videos translated and customized for the Chinese marketplace, will be provided by Discovery Channel.
The two companies will share the advertising revenue.
