The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China revealed for the first time on April 29 that the Chinese commercial passenger jet (generally known as the jumbo jet) will make its debut in 2014 and be delivered to airline companies two years after that.
Marketing Director of the company Chen Jin told a press conference at the 13th Beijing International Aviation Expo that the first jumbo jet would be named C919, and is different from the Boeing B7X7 series and the Airbus A3X0 series.
This Chinese aircraft manufacturer plans to reach an annual output of 150 jumbo jets and 50 extension line jets within 20 years.
The C919 is a small jet with all 168 economy seats installed in a single cabin. In terms of fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness, it will outperform the present Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.
