Shen Danyang, Spokesman of China's Ministry of Commerce [By Li Baojun/Xinhua] |
China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said on Saturday that China welcomes all measures taken by the United States that are conducive to expanding bilateral trade of high-tech items.
"But till now, China has not seen any substantial moves from the United States to relax control over its exports to China," the MOC spokesman Shen Danyang told the press.
The spokesman was responding to U.S. ambassador to China Gary Locke's remarks made recently in Shanghai about control of exports to China.
"China hopes that the U.S. earnestly fulfill its commitments and change its discriminatory practices placed on China," Shen said.
During the U.S.'s reform of its export control, it should treat China fairly, attach importance to and address China's major concerns, and substantially relax control over China-bound exports, Shen said.
"These measures will be beneficial for expanding bilateral trade and promoting trade balance between the two countries, and are in line with the mutual interests of both sides," said the spokesman.
