Chinese shares close lower at midday Monday

Chinese shares closed lower for the morning break Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.56 percent to close at 2,231.99.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 0.64 percent to finish at 8,972.65.
