Chinese shares open higher Monday

Chinese shares opened higher on Monday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.24 percent to 2,913.91.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.18 percent at the opening to 12,745.38.

The People's Bank of China (PBOC), China's central bank, announced on Friday that it would raise the bank reserve requirement ratio by 50 basis points starting on March 25.
