Sudan, China cooperate in 1st bioenergy project in Sudan

Sudan, in cooperation with China, launched its first bioenergy project in White Nile State on Monday.
The project, implemented by Chinese Xing Ye Company and located in Tabat area, White Nile State, some 360 km south of Khartoum, includes 25 units that could translate animal wastes into light.
The ceremony was attended by the Chinese ambassador to Sudan Li Chengwen, representatives from the White Nile state government and the Sudanese Women General Union.
The Chinese ambassador said the project symbolized the distinguished Sino-Sudanese relations that serve the interests of the two peoples.
Li further stressed China's keenness to support the development and rehabilitation projects in Sudan and to provide all possible assistance to its people.
This project represents one of the most advanced means for energy production because it uses the simplest local resources and it produces clean and environmental-friendly energy, said the ambassador.
Mohamed Babikir Shinaibop, minister of agriculture of White Nile state, for his part, said "this project sets a model of strategic cooperation and partnership between Sudan and China."
"The White Nile state government is keen to provide the suitable atmosphere for Chinese companies to establish development projects in the state," he said.
"We are aware of China's seriousness and sincerity to assist the Sudanese people and provide them with basic services," he added.
