On August 26th, 1980, Shenzhen, a then fishing village in Southern China's Guangdong province was approved by the Chinese government to become the country's very first Special Economic Zone. During the past 30 years, Shenzhen has developed into one of the most developed regions in China and boasts a per capital GDP of US$13,600 in 2009. |
