Metro AG, the world's third largest retailer, said Thursday it will open 100 consumer electronics stores in China by 2015.

The German company has teamed up with Taiwan-based Foxconn Technology Group in a 200-million-dollar joint venture to bring Media Markt, Europe's largest retailer of consumer electronics, to China.

Foxconn Technology Group holds a 25-percent stake in the joint venture.

The first store will be opened in Shanghai in October.
