Chinese Haier and South Korean Triview plan to invest 9 million euros ($13.21 million) in Macedonia to produce LCD monitors and TVs, followed by computers, which are going to be sold onto European markets.
The 7,300 square meters plant is located in Skopje industrial zone Bunardzik. It will employ 100 people at the start, and gradually increase the employment to 300.
"The selection of Macedonia as an investment destination and a country from which to conquer the European markets will give the joint investment a much greater value," Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said at the ground-breaking ceremony.
Chinese Haier is one of the largest PC producers in China whereas Triview is one of South Korea's biggest companies for production of monitors, TV sets and LCD monitors.
