China hopes Nokia will enhance cooperation with China's information sector and play an active role in developing China's TD-SCDMA industry, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang said in Beijing on Monday.
He made the comments when meeting with Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, president and CEO of the world's largest mobile phone maker Nokia.
Zhang said China attached great importance to the information industry, and would unswervingly promote the industry's development.
He said China had made favorable policies to support the development of information industry, against the backdrop of the global financial crisis.
TD-SCDMA is a Chinese domestically-developed standard for the third-generation (3G) high-speed mobile communications.
Kallasvuo said he was confident of Nokia's business prospects in China, and was ready to advance research and development in this Chinese sector, so as to contribute to China's economy and information industry.
