Alcan's Tianjin branch to start operations

Alcan (Tianjin) alloy products company, a Chinese branch of the Canadian-based Alcan Inc, announced its manufacturing base in Tianjin will be completed by the end of this year and put into operation in early 2009.

With an investment totaling US$40 million, the project will be Alcan's first world-class manufacturing base in China with an annual production capacity of 33,000 tons of special alloy cable.

Alcan is one of the global Fortune 500 companies involved in manufacturing bauxite, alumina and aluminum, and providing engineered and packaging materials.
