China Mobile Ltd, the world's biggest wireless carrier by users, hasn't been notified by the government when it will be able to sell shares on the mainland, Chief Executive Officer Wang Jianzhou said yesterday. "As a company we're keen to be able to get A shares but there is no timetable yet," Wang said, reiterating the Hong Kong-listed company's plans to sell shares in China.
The government has said it may amend listing rules that currently prevent stock sales by Chinese companies registered overseas. The Beijing-based carrier is seeking to join other overseas-registered Chinese companies, including China Netcom Group Corp Ltd and CNOOC Ltd, in trying to raise funds from the nation's stock markets, which nearly tripled in value last year.
