Canon has recalled seven models of photocopiers sold in the
Chinese market before 2000 as the machines pose a potential fire
hazard as they can overheat, company sources said.
This is part of a global recall plan involving up to 1.87
million copiers. Canon will replace the defected parts free of
charge.
Pan Ying, public relations manager at Canon (China) Co., Inc.,
said Chinese customers could contact the firm by phoning 95177178.
Canon will also advertise the recall in major newspapers in
Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing.
The company has identified the seven models as PC-6, PC-7,
PC-11, NP-1010, NP-1020, GR-1200 and GR-1400.
Canon (China) says that 31,000 of the defective copiers were
sold on the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
