The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and
the State Council jointly organized the Central Economic Work
Conference on December 5-7, 2006 in Beijing. Relying on a
comprehensive analysis of the current domestic economic situation
and an appraisal of the international economic environment,
President Hu Jintao proposed economic guidelines and
general requirements for 2007, further elaborating on the
principles and major tasks needed to move towards the success of
the economic agenda. Premier Wen Jiabao provided direction, such as
arrangements for the goals, tasks and major issues relating to the
economic work to be carried out in 2007. Eight major tasks
were set at the conference for the economic agenda in
2007.
