Beijing Poly International achieved total sales of 194 million yuan ($28.5 million) at its 11th session auction, which concluded last week.
A hand scroll landscape by Wang Fu (1362-1416) fetched 6.8 million yuan, the highest price in the ancient Chinese painting and calligraphy category, while an under-glaze red flared-rim vase of the Qianlong period (1711 -1799), which features ganoderma and narcissus patterns, sold for 2.464 million yuan. A Chinese painting titled Ni Feng, or Against the Wind, by Xu Beihong from 1936 sold for 3.36 million yuan.
Meanwhile, Poly announced a special night sale of works by 10 classic Chinese art masters of the 20th century at its autumn auction. Among the featured works is the painting Lotus by Zhang Daqian, in which the artist conveys intense homesickness.
