Director Wang Xiaoshuai's father-and-son story "Chongqing Blues" is due to open in Chinese theatres by the end of August, the Beijing News reports.
The film was selected to compete at this year's Cannes film festival. According to Wang Xiaoshuai, the film is based on a true events that took place in a supermarket in China. A young man was shot dead by police for kidnapping a young woman. The boy's father, who had left him 15 years ago, comes back to uncover the details of his son's life.
The film had been scheduled to hit in theatres on June 8, after returning from Cannes. However, the screening was delayed and the production unit said it was looking into a good time for the screening. According to the director, it may open by the end of August.
