The whole world seems to be commemorating the 200th birthday of the great Polish composer Frdric Chopin and Beijing is no exception. The Meet In Beijing Arts Festival has invited an orchestra and chorus from the composer's home country to present his music to Beijing audiences.

"Chopin's music is an endless source of inspiration for many artists," says Yao Shuo, marketing director of CPAA-Century, the company presenting the Meet In Beijing Festival. "We named the concert The Different Faces of Chopin, because it is an attempt to present varied examples of his inspiration and creative interpretations of his music."

The concert will begin with a formal piano recital that will launch three stylistically different parts of the subsequent performance. Under the direction of Anna Szostak, the 22 members of the vocal group Camerata Silesia will perform their own melancholic version of the composer's works. This will be followed by a jazz interpretation of Chopin's compositions by the Andrzej Jagodzinski Jazz Trio.

To end the concert, the Polish Ensemble led by Maria Pomianowska, will present the audience with a musical offering that takes one on a journey to the folk roots of Chopin's Mazurkas.

Dressed in traditional folk costumes, the musicians will play on traditional and period instruments with dancers performing the traditional Polish folk dances.

The concert will be enriched by a stunning and carefully staged visual performance including the projection of poetic animation on three screens, and an expressive light and image show.
