Actor Wang Xueqi files for divorce

Wang Xueqi, the newly crowned best actor at the Asian Film Awards for his role in action thriller "Bodyguards and Assassins", has begun divorce proceedings against his wife of 39 years.
Beijing Morning Post reports Wang, citing a long-time separation and irreconcilable differences, recently filed for divorce at Beijing Xicheng District People's Court.

The pair have been together since 1969 and registered their marriage in 1971. Their marriage cooled when the two found their busy schedules meant they spent little time together.
The 64-year-old actor has finally decided to call quits on their marriage and has asked for a property division.
Wang told the media he had been thinking of a divorce for a couple of years and admitted the acting profession put a huge strain on marriage.
Wang Xueqi is one of the most successful actors of recent years. Over the past few years, he has received awards for his roles in hit films including "Forever Enthralled" and "Bodyguards and Assassins".
