Peru on Monday started a "Week of CAN Andean Culture" to publicize the culture and folklore of the region via a film festival and a multinational seminar.

The five-day culture week, known as Mirror 2010, runs till Friday in Lima with the participation of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) -- Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

Other cultural and artistic activities for the culture week include exhibitions of Andean handicraft, performances of Andean folk dances, workshops on civil society to promote integration and meetings on cultural policies.

During the week, a scholarship for advanced workshops at an international film studio in Cuba will also be awarded to the winner of the best film from among more than 40 entries for the film festival.

The Week of CAN Andean Culture is jointly sponsored by the CAN Secretariat, the European Commission and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development.
