After more than 80 fashion shows, 2010 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week dropped its curtains in this metropolitan city on Thursday.

Most shows, held in the past week, indicated that winter colors, such as maroon and brown, were widely used in most of the designs. Surprises could be found in the details as well: a bowknot or a shinning belt could always light up the entire outfits.

Big names such as Anna Sui, DKNY and Calvin Klein, were trying to impress some 100,000 audiences from around the world.

As usual, celebrities were a common scene at the fashion week. Eva Longoria, Renee Zellweger, Maria Sharapova, Nastia Liukin and other super stars were all on hand to support their favorite brands.

In addition to luxury clothes and shining celebrities, many people walking into the Fashion Week tent at Bryant Park, the main venue of the event, could be headlines on the fashion magazine.

For the fashionists, New York Fashion Week was undoubtedly a great chance to put on their best wardrobe collections, and share their fashion understandings with others.

The young brand "Trais" held its new 2010 autumn/winter show on Thursday afternoon, the last day of the fashion week. The vertical strength was one of the highlights in this season's design.

Emerging designer Joaquin Trias told Xinhua that he was trying to focus on creating women of the future, and showing respect for women.

Over the course of eight days, the runway venues, lobby and backstage sponsor lounges were bustling from 9 a.m to 9. p.m. when approximately 100,000 people came to attend shows, meet and greet the media, retailers and fashion professionals.

Naomi Campbell's Fashion For Relief, a spectacular charity fashion show and auction, was back for 2010, taking the center stage at this year's fashion week Friday evening. The star-studded runway show and auction was held in aid of CARE (Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere) to raise crucial funds toward rebuilding Haiti's health system for mothers and children.

New York Fashion Week, held twice a year, in February and September respectively, is one of the world's Big 4 Fashion Weeks, also the only one outside Europe, while the other three are held in Paris, Milan and London, respectively.
