It's been 20 years since China's rock icon Cui Jian performed in Beijing Exhibition Centre, but the veteran rocker has just announced he will bring his long-awaited solo concert back to the same venue on December 24.
48-year-old Cui Jian, who's been adored by Chinese music lovers for more than two decades, believes he's nowadays more popular among the generations born in the 1980s and 1990s. Because "they are more enthusiastic about rock & roll," said Cui at a press conference on Wednesday.
Cui Jian is acclaimed as China's "father of rock and roll" for his classic song "Nothing to My Name" opened a whole new genre in China's music scene in 1986.
The widely respected musician led the so-called "anti lip-synch movement" in 2002, calling for "moral and integrity" among the pop music world.
