The death of pop singer Chen Lin has been ruled as suicide, according to a forensic autopsy report that revealed no abnormalities. Chen's mother He Conglun has accepted the findings and expressed the family's gratitude to the public through an open letter.
Mother He Conglun dismissed rumors surrounding the late singer's death and explained "the body scars were caused by the suicide itself."
Chen is reported to have jumped from a building to her death on Saturday, November 1, but body scarring sparked widespread speculation of domestic violence in the past few days.
Ms He described her singer daughter as a sensible, sensitive, independent and caring girl who was also fragile. As a mother, she said she asked people to be understanding of a woman who saw death as a last resort. She requested the media cease their continuous speculation surrounding the death and allow her daughter to rest in peace.
The mother, grieving at the loss of her daughter, questioned, "my foolish child, how painful that would be. Would that pain be less than what you had to bear in life?"
Reportedly, a commemorative ceremony for Chen Lin will be held in Starlight Theater of Beijing on the evening of November 11. Pop singer Yang Kun will sing the hit song, The World of Two, which was originally a duet sung with Chen Lin.
The memorial will be made into a documentary about Chen Lin by her ex-husband Shen Yongge, a record company owner, according to the Dongfang Daily.
However, it is rumored the event, to be attended by many artists, will not welcome Zhang Chaofeng, a music producer and Chen's current husband, who was criticized for having not taken good care of his wife.
