On January 11th, 2007, the Castle Bruce Constituency of the
Commonwealth of Dominica welcomed a visit by a distinguished guest
from afar, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the
Peoples' Republic of China to the Commonwealth of Dominica H.E.
Deng Boqing. Ambassador Deng was accompanied by Minister in the
Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Private Sector Relations of
Dominica, Parliamentary Representative of the Castle Bruce
Constituency, Hon. Loreen Bannis- Roberts.
During the day, H.E. Ambassador Deng Boqing paid his visits to
Castle Bruce Primary School, San Sauveur Primary School and Castle
Bruce Secondary School respectively and was warmly received by the
teachers and students of those schools. The students paid tribute
to the guest by singing songs written and composed by themselves.
Hon. Loreen Bannis-Roberts extended her sincere thanks to the
Chinese Ambassador for the visit to the students in the
Constituency and China's contribution to the Constituency in the
past three years.
H.E. Ambassador Deng Boqing briefed the students on the history,
geography, politics, economy, education, culture as well as the
latest developments of China. He was pleased to notice that
Dominica's economic and social development is gaining momentum in
recent years under the leadership of the youngest Prime Minister in
the world, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit. He encouraged the students to
study hard, and make contribution to the development of Dominica
and the bilateral relations between China and Dominica. Ambassador
Deng also thanked Loreen Bannis-Roberts for her kind
invitation.
In the afternoon, H.E. Deng Boqing and Hon. Loreen
Bannis-Roberts held talks with members of various groups of the
Community and discussed issues of common concern.
