Central China's Hubei Province is recovering from the recent
heavy snowfall, which crippled southeastern parts of the
province.
Water and power supplies, traffic and communications were all
restored on Wednesday, said local sources.
Some 2.4 million yuan (US$308,000), together with 280,000 quilts
and items of clothing, were delivered to more than 878,000 people
in 14 cities and counties.
Local governments also evacuated 2,408 people, whose houses
collapsed or were seriously damaged in the snow.
Fourteen people were injured in the snow, of whom two are still
in hospital.
The blizzards resulted in a direct economic loss of 42.6 million
yuan (US$5.5 million), according to the provincial civil affairs
department.
