Adjust font size:

According to the Beijing Morning Post, Beijing Traffic Management Bureau (BTMB) and relevant public transportation departments jointly issued the traffic regulation plan on September 25 for the coming "Golden Week" holiday, from October 1-7.

BTMB stats show that around 2 million people are forecasted to visit Beijing over the holiday and that the equivalent of 130 million people will use the city's transport.

As 50 important projects will not halt construction for the holiday and the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival falls on October 6, which will further increase travel influx, public transportation departments decided to tighten traffic control from October 1 to 6 in places around the Tian'anmen Square, Badaling Express Way, Jingshan area, the Summer Palace, the Fragrant Hill, and Fangshan District's Shidu Town.

l         Around the Tian'anmen Square, vehicles are forbidden to pass in both directions or to park along the Tongzihe River (from Donghua Gate to Xihua Gate) from 3 PM on September 30 to midnight on October 2 and from 7 AM until lights-out on October 2-7.

All vehicles cannot use the square's eastern and western bypasses and should be driven to Zhengyi Road and the Great Hall of the People's west bypass from 3 PM on September 30 to midnight on October 2 and from 10 AM until lights-out on October 2-7.

l         Along the Badaling Express Way, five-ton trucks are prohibited to pass from Xikang Road's Kangzhuang Road Crossing to Chadaocheng Village from west to east, and from Kangzhuang Town to Yingchengzi Town in direction of Beijing between 7:00-19:00 during October 1-7.

Trucks with five tons' freight or more are also forbidden to pass from Xiguan Ring Island of Changping District to Yingchengzi Toll Station in direction to leave Beijing between 7:00-12:00 during October 1-7.

l         Around the Jingshan area, from 7:00-17:00 during October 1-7, except public buses, vehicles can be driven only northwards on Jingshan East Street; only westwards in Jingshan Back Street; southwards on Jingshan West Road; and vehicles cannot pass from north to east on the Di'anmennei Street south crossing.

l         In the area around the Summer Palace and the Fragrant Hill, 1,000 passes for the Summer Palace and 3000 for Fragrant Hill a day will be issued to Beijing's vehicles from October 1-6. Traffic administration departments in Beijing's eight districts will deliver passes from September 27-30 and the Haidian District traffic administration department shall co-ordinate the program from October 1-6.

From 8:00-17:00 during October 1-7, except public buses, all vehicles should drive eastbound from the archway of Donggong Gate of the Summer Palace to Xiyuan Road Crossing along the Yiheyuan Road; westbound from Dayouzhuang Overpass to Anhe Overpass in the Yiheyuan Road; southbound starting at Xinjiangong Gate to Liulang Swimming Pool Station along the Kunminghu Road; and southbound from Wofo Temple Station to Minzhuang Road West Crossing along the Xiangshan South Road.

Between 8:00-17:00 during October 1-6, freight trucks and eight-seater passenger cars without tourism passports cannot pass from Dayouzhuang Road Crossing to 101 Middle School Station and from Xiangquan Ring Island to Anhe Overpass.

From October 1-6, except public buses and vehicles with passes, vehicles cannot pass the Qinglongqiao Road from 8:00-17:00 and from Xiangquan Ring Island to the Fragrant Hill Park between 9:00-17:00.

l         In Fangshan District's Shidu Town, freight trucks cannot pass between 7:00-19:00 during October 1-7 from Pianshang Road Crossing to Shidu Tieluqiao Crossing in Laibao Road and from Shidu Road Crossing to Dashadi Road Crossing along Shida Road.

At present, over 3,000 policemen are on duty for morning and afternoon rush hours and more police will be deployed to meet city traffic's changeable situation.

September 30, October 1, 5 and 6 will see the passenger transport peak. From September 26 to October 7, Beijing Railway Station, West Station, North Station and Fengtai Station will sell tickets 24-hours a day.
