China's top legislator Wu Bangguo met with Eduardo Braga, governor of
Brazil's Amazonas state, in the state's capital Manaus on
Saturday.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National
People's Congress (NPC), spoke highly of the positive role of
Amazonas in promoting Sino-Brazilian relations.
He hoped that Amazonas would continue tapping the potential to
expand economic and trade cooperation with China based on the
principle of mutual benefit.
Amazonas, in the northern part of the country, is Brazil's
largest state in terms of area.
China is Amazonas' largest trading partner, Braga said. He hoped
that Wu's visit would boost the two sides' cooperation in
electronics, timber processing, petrochemical production, and
tourism.
Manaus is Wu's last stop in Brazil. He is expected to leave
Brazil for Uruguay on Sunday.
