China's quarantine authority on Friday ordered a ban on the
import of "Gentlease infant milk powder", with batch number BMJ 19,
produced by the United States' Mead Johnson Corporation.
In an emergency circular, the State Administration of Quality
Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine ordered that all localities
step up supervision of China's import of the product.
An official with the quarantine administration said that the US
quarantine administration has announced a callback of the product
due to unidentified metal particles contained in the milk
power.
The administration ordered strict check-up of other milk powders
produced by US Mead Johnson Corporation on Chinese market.
The circular suggested that those who have bought "Gentlease
Milk Powder" should stop taking it.
