Chinese President Hu Jintao
returned to Beijing Sunday morning after an official goodwill visit
to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and
chairman of the DPRK's National Defense Commission, was at the
Pyongyang airport to attend a see-off ceremony for Hu.
Hu, also general secretary of the Central Committee of the
Communist Party of China, started the visit on Friday at the
invitation of Kim.
Hu and Kim held talks on Friday afternoon and had an in-depth
exchange of views on bilateral ties and international and regional
issues of common concern.
During his stay in Pyongyang, Hu also met with Kim Yong Nam,
president of the Presidium of the DPRK's Supreme People's
Assembly.
This is Hu's first visit to Pyongyang as Chinese president. Kim
Jong Il visited Beijing in 2000, 2001 and 2004.
