Hong Kong television stations reported on Sunday that five Hong
Kong people were killed in a traffic accident in Huizhou City of
Guangdong Province, which is adjacent to Hong Kong.
A spokeswoman of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
(HKSAR) government said in an interview with Xinhua that the HKSAR
government has not confirmed the number of Hong Kong
resident-related causalities so far.
She said the Immigration Department and HKSAR government office
in Beijing has contacted related Guangdong local authorities to
follow the development of the situation.
She said the government will provide every possible effort to
help the Hong Kong residents involved in the accident.
Two Hong Kong immigration officers were sent to the mainland
city Huizhou Sunday afternoon to help victims in the traffic
accident.
The traffic accident involving a seven-seat car and a goods
vehicle occurred at 1 AM Sunday on Highway 205 near Boluo in
