Adjust font size:

Top legislator Wu Banguo and visiting French Senate President Christian Poncelet agreed in Beijing yesterday to improve their regular parliamentary exchange mechanism for bilateral cooperation in all fields.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said parliamentary exchange constitutes an important component of state-to-state relations, and that the NPC would like to enhance existing relations with the French senate.

Poncelet said France hopes to promote friendly exchanges between the parliaments and local governments of the two countries.

Wu also expressed the Chinese government's appreciation for France's "one China" policy.
