MII to Close down Unregistered Websites
Adjust font size:

The Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has decided to temporarily close down all domestic web sites that fail to register with local telecommunications authorities before June 30.

The decision was announced in BeijingĀ on Friday according to China's two official methods on the management of Internet Information Services and Registration of Non-Profitable Internet Information Services.

All web sites temporarily closed down would get a 10-day grace period to fulfill their registration procedures with local telecommunication authorities, sources of the Ministry of Information Industry said.

Web site operators can register themselves through a special management system: www.miibeian.gov.cn.

The registration, which started in February, aims to control domestic Internet information services.
