China, Germany Sign Agreements

China and Germany signed documents in Beijing on Monday evening at the Great Hall of the People, promoting cooperation in various fields.

Premier Wen Jiabao and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who is on a three-day state visit, attended the signing ceremony after their scheduled talks.

The agreements involve cooperation in the fields of railways, finance, aviation, cars, agricultural products and digital communication.

A hotline between the two governments will be established, and future cooperation on bank supervision and between small and medium-sized enterprises was also included.

Both Wen and Schroeder spoke highly of the deals when meeting with home and overseas reporters after the ceremony.

Schroeder said the signing indicated that cooperation is deepening and strengthening. He also expressed his confidence for doubling trade volume by 2010.

Wen said his talks with Schroeder were sincere and fruitful.
