Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Friday
that China hopes the United States will handle issue involving
terror suspects of Chinese nationality in Guantanamo with prudence
and in a responsible and appropriate way.
The remark came in response to a US State Department saying that
the United States is trying to get a third country to accept the
Chinese terror suspects being held in Guantanamo.
Zhang said that terrorism is a common foe of humanity and poses
serious danger to world peace and regional security.
Abdullah Mehsud, a former Guantanamo prisoner, masterminded the
kidnapping of two Chinese engineers in Pakistan, causing great
concern of the international community, she said.
Given that East Turkistan terrorist forces pose a great threat
to the security and people's lives in many countries, Zhang urged
the United States to handle the issue prudently, without hurting
Sino-US ties and anti-terrorism collaboration around the world.
