Efforts made by the Sudanese government, the United Nations, the
African Union and the Arab League to resolve the Darfur crisis
should be fully recognized, said Assistant Foreign Minister Lu
Guozeng during a meeting with Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir in
Khartoum on Monday.
Calling for more peace-making efforts from the international
community, Lu stated that China hoped the government of Sudan would
make every effort to resolve the crisis as quickly as possible.
Lu briefed the president on the Chinese government's plan to
offer Sudan another 5 million yuan (US$610,000) in humanitarian
aid.
Al-Bashir thanked the Chinese government for its efforts to help
solve the crisis and its humanitarian aid. He said that his
government is seeking peace in Darfur.
Lu arrived in Khartoum on Saturday for a three-day visit.
