Two of Beijing's suspected SARS
cases were confirmed in the 24 hours ended at 10:00 AM, 29 April.
The two, surnamed Li and Teng, are the aunt and mother of Beijing's
first confirmed SARS patient, said the Ministry of Health in its
daily surveillance report on SARS.
Li is in critical condition but Teng remains relatively
stable.
The two patients' blood samples tested IgG and IgM positive on
Wednesday afternoon. Based on their clinical symptoms,
epidemiological history and the laboratory test results, they were
confirmed as SARS patients.
Beijing's first SARS patient is in stable condition and her body
temperature has been normal for 13 consecutive days.
The other four suspected SARS cases in Beijing remain in
isolation at Ditan Hospital.
Twenty-two of the people who have had close contacts with known
or suspected patients have been removed from medical
observation.
The 26-year-old confirmed SARS patient in Anhui
Province is recovering. Her body temperature has been normal
for six consecutive days. Thirty-nine of her close contacts have
been released from medical observation.
Thus far, the health ministry has reported four confirmed and
five suspected SARS cases on the mainland, including one suspected
patient who died on April 19 in Anhui.
