China has shipped a 900 megavolt ampere transformer to the
United States, marking the country's first export of an advanced
electrical product to a developed country.
The transformer, made by the Tebian Electric Shenyang
Transformer Group, will be used for connecting the California power
grid and the hydropower grid in Los Angeles.
Tebian Electric beat out several big international rivals,
including South Korea's Hyundai, Japan's Mitsubishi and
Switzerland's ABB, to win the deal.
The company says it is preparing two other bids for power supply
equipment in the United States.
Currently, the company has exported products to over 60
countries and regions around the world.
