Macao Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah says the late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping's remarks on patriotism are not only applicable in Hong Kong, but also in Macao.
 
Edmund Ho Hau Wah says Deng Xiaoping's remarks on patriotic standards and Hong Kong two decades ago still have real significance today.

He notes that besides strictly implementing the Basic Law, the SAR government should continue to carry out the principle of "Macao People Governing Macao" in line with Deng Xiaoping's theory.

He adds that a correct understanding of patriotism will be conducive to successful practice of the "one country, two systems" policy in Macao.
