All earthquake-affected resident in Zhaosu County of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were resettled and local governments have received continuous donations from all over the country.

Officials of the regional disaster relief bureau said that all the 6,000 quake victims were living with relatives, in tents or accommodation at Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

In addition, the regional government has allocated more tents and life necessities, such as food, medicine, quilts and coal, to Zhaosu.

The bureau has received continuous donations from all over the country. As of Thursday, the relief fund had exceeded four million yuan (US$482,000) and batches of relief goods with a value of more than 1.2 million yuan (US$144,600), according to the bureau.

Most schools in affected areas resumed operation Thursday.

The quake, measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale, occurred at 9:38a.m. Monday, in Zhaosu County of the Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture with the epicenter located at 43.1 degrees north latitude, 80.1 degrees east longitude, some 80 km from the county seat of Zhaosu.

It left 10 people dead and dozens injured.

Rescue workers were working around the clock, but the 30cm deep ground snow with temperatures hitting 25 degrees below centigrade, hindered rescue work.

Zhaosu County is located in the border area between China and Kazakhstan, where seismic activity is common. Monday's earthquake was the strongest in recent years.
