All 15 Miners Confirmed Dead in Flooded NW China Mine

As of 5:35 p.m. Friday, the last body of the 15 miners who were trapped in a coal mine flooding accident on Sept. 11 in Sangshuping Coal Mine was found and retrieved.

The accident occurred last Thursday evening at the mine in Hancheng City, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, while 22 miners were working below ground. Seven were rescued.

Rescue work has been ongoing since the accident occurred. At press time, about 78,300 cubic meters of floodwater had been pumped out. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
