China, US Sign Nonproliferation Assurance
Adjust font size:
China and the United States have affirmed their mutual commitment to their recent understanding on the exchange of nonproliferation assurances required for exchanges of nuclear technology.

The US Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham, and the Chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority Zhang Huazhu signed a Statement of Intent at the International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference in Vienna.

The understanding allows the US nuclear industry to have greater participation in China's growing nuclear power program. In the Statement of Intent, the two officials declare they will implement the understandings effectively and efficiently, and with all necessary resources of their respective organizations.
