President Hu Jintao Meets Australian PM

Chinese President Hu Jintao says China appreciates Australia's genuine efforts to develop Sino-Australian ties.

 

Hu made the comment during a meeting with visiting Australian Prime Minister John Howard in Beijing. He spoke highly of Howard's long-term commitment to developing ties between the two countries.

 

Howard says it is his fourth visit to China since he took office as prime minister. And he believes the good relationship will be further enhanced.

 

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao also met John Howard on Monday morning, exchanging views on bilateral relations and other issues of common concern.

 

Howard started his working visit to China Sunday evening as Wen's guest.
