The Press Office under the Ministry of Health published Sunday
afternoon a press release on the latest
SARS
situation on the Chinese mainland. On May 25, 7 provinces reported
new SARS cases, of which, 2 provinces reported both new diagnosed
cases and new suspected cases, 1 province reported new diagnosed
cases, 4 provinces reported new suspected cases, and the remaining
24 provinces reported no new case.
By
10:00 am May 25, 26 provinces had reported SARS cases. So far,
Hainan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Qinghai provinces, and Tibet Autonomous
Region have not found any case. Of the provinces having reported
suspected or diagnosed SARS cases, Heilongjiang and Xinjiang still
reported no diagnosed case; Anhui, Shanghai, Gansu, Jiangsu, Hubei,
Liaoning and Hunan reported less than 10 diagnosed cases
respectively; Ningxia, Zhejiang, Fujian, Chongqing, Jiangxi and
Shandong reported less than 5 diagnosed cases respectively. Hunan,
Fujian and Shandong had reported no new case for more than 1 month;
Ningxia and Jiangxi had reported no new case for 20 days; Henan,
Chongqing, Zhejiang, Shaanxi, Anhui, Jiangsu and Gansu had reported
no new case for 10 days respectively; Tianjin, Jilin and Guangdong
had reported no new case for 8 days; Guangxi had reported no new
case for 7 days, and Hubei had reported no new case for 6 days.
From 10:00 am May 24 to 10:00 am May 25, China reported 16 new
cases, 67 patients recovered and 7 deaths. Of the 16 cases, 13 used
to be suspected but now are confirmed as SARS patients.
Of
these figures:
- Beijing reported 13 new cases (of which 10 used to be suspected
but now confirmed as SARS patients), 37 patients recovered and 4
deaths
- Hebei reported 1 new case (which used to be suspected but now
confirmed as a SARS patient), and 5 patients recovered
- Inner Mongolia reported 2 new cases (both of which used to be
suspected but now confirmed as a SARS patient), 5 patients
recovered and 1 death
- Tianjin reported no new case, and 5 recovered
- Shanxi reported no new case, and 9 patients recovered
- Liaoning reported no new case, and 1 death
- Jilin and Gansu reported no new case, with each province
reporting 1 patient recovered
- Hubei reported no new case, 1 recovered and 1 death
- Guangdong reported no new case, and 3 patients recovered.
By 10:00 am May 25, China had a total of 5,316 SARS cases
(964 medical workers; Beijing reported 4 misdiagnosed cases
including 1 medical worker; Hebei reported 2 misdiagnosed cases;
Inner Mongolia reported 2 misdiagnosed cases including 1 medical
worker; and Shanxi reported 1 misdiagnosed case.), which included
2,742 patients who had recovered and been discharged from hospital
and 315 deaths. Now 2,259 patients are receiving treatment in
hospitals.
From 10:00 am May 24 to 10:00 am May 25, China also reported 35 new
suspected cases, including 16 from Beijing, 2 from Hebei, 1 each
from Shanxi, Hubei and Sichuan, and 14 from Guangdong.
From 10:00 am May 24 to 10:00 am May 25, China also reported 81
misdiagnosed suspected cases, of which 35 were from Beijing, 14
from Hebei, 12 from Shanxi, 6 from Guangdong, 4 from Inner
Mongolia, 2 from Sichuan, and 1 each from Tianjin, Liaoning,
Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Guangxi and Ningxia. By 10:00 am May
25, China had a total of 1,573 suspected cases.
