A forest park is going to be built, as is reported, in the area of
Mojishan within the city proper of Yichang, an old city of great
renown now becoming as famous as the Three Gorges Water Conservancy
Project being built on the Yangtse River in today's Hubei Province.
Located in southern Yichang, Mojishan is a stretch of over 2000mu
of barren hilly lands on top of which one can enjoy a splendid view
of the city, of the Yangtze and bridges spanning over the river, as
well as Gezhouba Dam and beautiful country scenes in all
directions.
Designed by an American company, Mojishan Forest Park will be built
into one to offer a panorama of forest views, cultural sites,
mid-air sight mounds, platforms and riverside walking corridor.
When completed, it will make the longest forest corridor in Yichang
to create a scene of "city and forest embracing each other".
To
speed up Mojishan's greenery construction the Yichang Municipal
People's Government has decided on directly transplanting grown
trees on the hilly lands of the park and to this end a fund of
300,000 yuan has been injected by local forest department. With
these there are over 11,000 of wiliwill as a rare evergreen tree
species easy to strike root and grow in arid lands, have been
introduced from Sichuan Province. The transplanting work will be
completed within one month to cover 110mu barren hilly lands.
